DirecTV Now customers are reporting continued service outages and buffering issues with the streaming service that have been going on for over a week and according to some social media complaints even longer.
Hundreds of DirecTV Now subscribers report having difficulties logging in to the live streaming service during primetime hours – when the greatest number of customers would likely be using the service – and if they are able to log in, their picture often freezes or is interrupted by buffering.
Got the new iPad Air (2019). I can’t get the DirecTV app to work correctly. Sketch 56. I have the settings IDENTICAL to old iPad. Reinstalled app several times. I can get live tv to work occasionally. Why won’t it work consistently like on my older devices? Everything else seems to work fine on new iPad.
- I purchased an Apple TV 4K last week. I completed the setup and then I noticed a few things weren't working correctly. First, I was not able to receive local channels on the DIRECTV NOW app. That app requires location services to determine my location. If I am in my home market, I will see the major broadcast networks.
- Smartphones and tablets that work with DirecTV Now. Android phones & tablets, 4.4 & higher; iPad, iPhone, iPod touch running iOS 9 or higher; Web browsers that work with DirecTV Now. Chrome 50+ Safari 8+ There you have it. DirecTV Now is essentially everywhere it needs to be, so unless you're running super outdated hardware or an older OS.
- Apple TV users facing DirecTV Now 2.0 login issues; told to “hang tight” The recent DirecTV Now 2.0 update is creating various login issues for some subscribers, many of whom are being told to “hang tight” and use third-party apps to access the service until issues are resolved.
The outages have been on-going for a number of weeks, but have been reported in high numbers over the past two weeks.
We do apologize for the streaming interruptions, we were having some issues and are working diligently to get them resolved. Are you currently receiving any streaming issues?

Availability of signing in with your TV provider may vary by country or region.
Sign in with your TV provider
You can sign in with your TV provider in Settings or the first time you use a supported app. After you sign in, any other supported app automatically signs you in so you don't need to enter your information again. If your TV provider has its own app, your device might automatically download it after you sign in.
Sign in from your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch
You can sign in with only one TV provider at a time. Here's how:
- Make sure that you have the latest version of iOS or iPadOS.
- Go to the Settings app, then tap TV Provider.
- Select your TV provider* from the list.
- Enter your TV provider account information. If you aren’t sure, contact your TV provider.
- After you enter your TV provider account information, tap Sign In.
*If your TV provider supports signing in with your TV provider, then you'll be prompted to enter your username and password for your TV provider. If your TV provider doesn't support signing in with your TV provider, your TV provider is saved so you don’t have to select it again, but you’ll still need to sign in to each app with your TV provider account information.
Change or sign out of your TV provider
If you change TV providers, you can remove your current TV provider account information or set up a different one:
- On your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch, open the Settings app.
- Tap TV Provider.
- Tap Remove TV Provider or Sign Out.
- In the pop-up that appears, tap again to confirm.
- Choose your new TV provider from the list, then follow the steps to sign in.
